The old part of Nice, also called Vieux Nice, is a beautiful, unique and very vibrant neighbourhood in Nice.  It is very popular with tourists and locals alike and once you visit it it's not difficult to understand why!  The area is so diverse that everyone will be able to find their own piece that they love and come back to - some regularly and others every so often when their way brings them to this part of the world.

Get lost in the labyrinth of very narrow winding streets lined up with little coffee shops and restaurants, next to chic galleries and arts and crafts shops.  Take in the smell of fresh herbs, the aroma of so many different savons de Provance, all made from the freshest ingredients there are and be sure to visit one of the little inviting shops that sell countless flavours of olive oil.  Find yourself all of a sudden in the centre of a small courtyard square with an imposing historical façade church on one side and numerous small restaurants on the other.  Take the time to relax and take in the view with a coffee or a cold drink at one of the little tables covered with chequered white and red table cloths and a small bunch of yellow and blue flowers on top and you will definitely feel like you belong there, that this is the life that you have been dreaming of or you have been working for.

Just a short walk and the popular pedestrianised area of Cours Saleys can be reached, bustling with life from very early morning until late into the evening!  From Tuesday until Sunday locals make their way each morning to the flower and fresh fruit and vegetable market to stock up on the right ingredients that make the French cuisine so special.  Come Monday and the space is filled with antiques that do not look out of place amongst the historic architecture buildings of L'Opera or any one of the Churches and Cathedrals of which there are many.

And in the evenings restaurants on both sides of the street open their doors to a world of different cuisines - French, Italian, North African - in a variety of setting to suit every wish, whim or mood of visitors.
